Salman Khan is the king of box office every Eid, and his arch-rival Shahrukh Khan just came within an inch of grabbing that slot for 2013 but has now backed out. What’s the reason?
A clash with Salman Khan at box office on Eid could be suicidal for any star, but Shahrukh Khan and director Rohit Shetty seemed set to take on the Goliath with their upcoming film Chennai Express which was slated to release on Eid 2013. And considering that Salman Khan’s film Sher Khan with brother Sohail Khan hasn’t taken off yet, despite being touted as Sallu’s next Eid offering, even the production house UTV that’s backing Chennai Express was sold to the idea of an Eid release.
What they apparently didn’t anticipate is that Salman Khan won’t let go of his Eid slot so easily and has decided to remake the south film ‘Brindavanam’ with his brother Sohail and release it on Eid 2013.
No sooner the news of Salman’s next Eid release came out than Chennai Express lost its chug-chug. Buzz is that SRK, UTV and Rohit Shetty have decided not to clash with Salman Khan on Eid and rather postpone their film by a few weeks.
Chennai Express will now hit the theatres with a 2-3 week gap from Salman Khan’s Brindavanam remake.
Now, whether Shahrukh Khan has chickened out, or is considerate, even generous for Salman, is anybody’s guess. But we want to ask the fans of the superstar. Do you think SRK is scared of Sallu, or it’s his way of giving an Eid gift to Sallu? Fire away in comments below.
