|There was anything but rush at box office this weekend. All the three new releases Chakravyuh, that came out on Wednesday, and Rush and Ajab Gazabb Love, both released on Friday, were met with lull at ticket windows.
Of the two Friday releases Ajab Gazabb Love, starring Jackky Bhagnani and Nidhi Subbaiah, still fared comparatively better and saw a 20 percent response at theatres. It is said to have made a paltry first-day collection of Rs. 1.25 crore nett, which is way below par. The Emraan Hashmi starrer Rush was worse with just 10-15 percent response and a first-day collection that would just about scrape the Rs. 1 crore mark. In a nutshell, a disastrous start.
Things aren’t looking upbeat for Chakravyuh as well. Released on Wednesday, the film had the benefit of the first holiday of Dusshera and the second one on Saturday on account of Eid. But the box office figures are anything but flattering.
For all the three new releases, Saturday and Sunday are crucial to determine their box office fate, though Rush looks like a clunker already.
Meanwhile, the last week’s release Student Of The Year has done exceptionally well in the first week, raking in a decent Rs. 48 crore nett in the first seven days. The film is not done yet, and is looking ahead at a good second week as well.
The coming week would see the release of Luv Shuv Tey Chicken Khurana and 1920 - Evil Returns.
