The Prithvi Festival is back in Mumbai after a two-year gap and the inauguration on Saturday saw a host of celebrities, including the newly wed Saif Ali Khan and Kareena Kapoor.
The couple arrived at the renovated Prithvi Theatre to watch the inaugural play ‘A Walk In The Woods’ featuring the stalwarts of acting, Naseeruddin Shah and Rajat Kapoor.
Kareena Kapoor, for one, was floored after watch the performances of the two actors.
“I think it’s an overwhelming experience, and the work that Naseer Bhai and Rajat ji have done, it was absolutely spectacular. Saif and me when we were watching the play, for the first time I felt I wasn’t an actor. I’ve never seen such performances. On the big screen, we can give retakes, but there are no retakes here.”
Kareena added that she’s proud to be a Kapoor.
“I am really proud to be a part of a family that is so creative. Whether its films, whether its theatre, whether its dance I just feel proud today to be a Kapoor,” she said.
Saif Ali Khan humbly touched the feet of Shashi Kapoor, who founded the Prithvi Theatre and started the festival in 1983.
“I remember Shashi uncle being so proud of Prithvi Theatre. It’s a strong family responsibility and tradition that the Kapoors have kept up alongside the work in cinema,” Saif said.
