|Finally, after weeks of speculation whether the new Yash Raj Films’ venture Jab Tak Hai Jaan would release in Pakistan or not, here’s some good news for the fans in Pak.
The film, starring Shahrukh Khan, Katrina Kaif and Anushka Sharma, is set to release in Pakistan, but it won’t hit the theatres there on November 13, as in India, but most likely on Friday, Nov 16 next week.
Earlier, there were reports that the release of the Yash Chopra-directed Jab Tak Hai Jaan would be stalled in Pakistan because the film features Shahrukh Khan as an army officer posted in Jammu and Kashmir region. However, reports now have it that the movie is in the process of getting clearances in Pakistan.
Amjad Rasheed, Chairman of IMGC Global Entertainment, the local distributors of the film in Karachi is quoted as saying by PTI: “Yash Raj Films have assured us that the plot of the film will not hurt Pakistani sentiments. The film is coming to Pakistan and is in the process of being imported…The film has received one NOC (No Objection Certificate) from the ministry of regulations and services and is now awaiting another from the ministry of commerce.”
Next week, the film would be sent to the Pakistani Censor Board for reviewing.
Bollywood films Agent Vinod and Ek Tha Tiger were banned in Pakistan earlier this year because the country’s authorities felt they showed its military and the all-powerful intelligence agency ISI in poor light.
