Deepika Padukone, who was signed for the film after Kareena Kapoor opted out, has to perform Garba in a song, and to her surprise, Sanjay Leela Bhansali has got dancers from rural Gujarat to choreograph it. These are the same dancers credited for Aishwarya Rai’s fast Garba moves in the song Dholi Taro in Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam.
It’s learnt that like every heroine, Deepika Padukone, too, feels lucky to work with the director in his new venture Ram Leela, said to be a Gujarati Romeo Juliet. However, she has discovered that it is not easy to be a Bhansali heroine because doing Garba requires a ‘different discipline’, and it’s not easy learning the dance steps.
Moreover, she is in constant pressure of being compared with Aishwarya Rai. Also, Bhansali reportedly gave only one direction to Deepika: to make it as good as Aishwarya’s Dholi Taro. It’s even learnt that Deepika’s character is on the lines of Aishwarya’s role of Nandini in Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam. Deepika really has big shoes to fill.
Do you think Deepika Padukone can do Garba as good as Aishwarya Rai?
