Salman Khan summoned by court in hit-and-run case
Salman Khan summoned over false evidence allegation in 2002 hit-and-run case

Bollywood superstar Salman Khan has been summoned by a magistrate court in Mumbai after an application filed by a social worker alleged that false evidence was submitted in the 2002 hit-and-run case to favour the actor and delay the case.

Social worker Santosh Daundkar filed the application through the lawyer Abha Singh. The additional chief metropolitan magistrate of the Mumbai court on Monday issued summons to Salman Khan and Bandra police to appear before it on December 27.

According to the application filed by the social worker, Salman Khan was favoured in the case by summoning as witnesses the doctors who were not at all connected with the case.

The application reportedly states: “The police could never be so naive so as to not know as to who were the actual doctors who had examined the injured persons in the matter.”

The lawyer Abha Singh said: “The punishment for giving false evidence can be up to seven years.”

Salman Khan, or his representative lawyer, and the Bandra police will appear before the court on December 27 “to show cause” why the social worker’s application should not be granted.

If granted, it could mean more trouble for the actor.
