|Not Priyanka Chopra but her cousin sister Parineeti Chopra will be the leading lady in Akshay Kumar’s Thuppakki remake. Yes, the Ishaqzaadi will romance the Khiladi in this A.R. Murugadoss film.
Fancy this new jodi! Though actresses like Deepika Padukone and Katrina Kaif were reportedly considered for the role, the makers of Thuppakki remake felt that a newbie, who hasn’t been cast opposite Akki yet, will add a novelty factor to the film. So, they went the whole hog and signed the 24-year-old Parineeti.
“Parineeti has been confirmed for the role. Priyanka has no clue about it!” tells a source to a tabloid. However, the role was first offered to Diana Penty, but when Akshay Kumar learnt that Diana is from the same agency with which he had a problem earlier, he refused to work with her.
The fallout between Akshay and the agency happened when Nargis Fakhri, also represented by the same agency, was signed for Khiladi 786. The model-turned-actress even signed a three-film deal with Akshay’s production house, but due to differences over the contract with the agency, Nargis couldn’t work with Akki in Khiladi 786, and Asin was signed.
To be directed by A.R. Murugadoss, the film Thuppakki (The Gun) is a 2012 Tamil action thriller. Its story revolves around a youngster who stays in Mumbai and the decisions he takes after his life undergoes a sudden turn. The film features Tamil star Vijay and Kajal Aggarwal. Thuppakki, released on November 13, opened to packed houses, and is still running strong at the theaters.
