Braving the London cold, the stars walked the red carpet at the Odeon Leicester Square on Dec 5. They posed for photographs, signed autographs and met fans
Set in 19th-century France, Les Miserables tells the story of Jean Valjean (Hugh Jackman) who’s long been hunted by the ruthless policeman Javert (Russell Crowe) for breaking parole. Valjean agrees to care for factory worker Fantine's (Anne Hathaway) daughter, Cosette (Isabelle Allen/Amanda Seyfried). The fateful decision changes their lives forever.
“I suppose in a way Jean is very much the leader, but I thought it (the casting) was very ensemble, I thought we were all into it together. On the film set, Tom Hooper (director) was our leader and we just went for it,” said Hugh Jackman.
Amanda Seyfried who plays Cosette spoke about doing vocal exercises for her role.
Interestingly, the pregnancy of Kate Middleton, the Duchess of Cambridge, also found a mention at the London premiere, courtesy Sacha Baron Cohen, who had a thing or two to joke about.
Les Miserables is based on a novel by Victor Hugo.
