Salman Khan ended the year 2012 with a bangg. His Dabangg 2 hit the marquee with full force, and continued its incredible run even in January. But as per trade reports, the movie isn’t as big a success as Ek Tha Tiger.
Chulbul Pandey was able to beat Tiger in the initial phase, reveal reports, but Ek Tha Tiger will continue to hold the record of being Salman Khan’s biggest hit to date. It’s learnt that after ruling the box office in its 1st and 2nd week, Dabangg 2 showed a slump in its collections.
The movie made about Rs 2.50 crore in its 4th weekend at the domestic box office. The total business of Dabangg 2 after its 3-week run was of Rs 155.20 crore nett. The movie’s total business now stands at Rs 157.70 crore nett.
Now if we compare Salman Khan’s recent hits: his Ek Tha Tiger completed a century in six days; Bodyguard did it in seven days; Dabangg 2 took eight days to cross the mark.
If Salman Khan holds the record of three fastest centuries (100 crore) in the history of Bollywood box office, Aamir Khan’s box-office record of 202 crore for 3 Idiots stands “unchallenged” to date.
Although January 2013 started on a bad note with no major success story yet, the film industry has pinned hopes on the upcoming thriller Race 2.
