|Actress, model, and former VJ Sophiya Haque died in London on Thursday. She was reportedly in her 30s only.
Reports say Sophiya was admitted to a London hospital last week for pneumonia, but her condition deteriorated over the days and she passed away today. The cause of her death isn’t known yet, but it’s being reported that she was also battling with cancer.
Sophiya Haque shot to fame in the 1990s as the video jockey on channel V at the time of Indian satellite TV boom. Born to a British mother and Bangladeshi father, she starred in the British TV series Coronation Street and also worked in the West End productions like Bombay Dreams, The Far Pavilions and Wah Wah Girls.
As the news of Sophiya Haque’s death started doing the rounds, the micro-blogging sites were abuzz with tributes and remembrances.
