Ever since the movie 2 States was announced, there has been a constant murmur about its lead cast. Even stars like Shahrukh Khan and Ranbir Kapoor were linked with the movie. But with Karan Johar’s latest tweet confirming the lead cast, there is no doubt left.
“Sajid Nadiadwala and me collaborate on #2 States which starts filming 2mor with Arjun Kapoor and Alia Bhatt...directed by Abhishek Varman,” Karan Johar wrote on twitter.
Arjun Kapoor will essay the role of Krish Malhotra -- a Punjabi lad, and Alia Bhatt will be seen as Ananya Swaminathan -- a Tamilian Brahmin. This is Alia’s second film after Student Of The year, and she is quite serious about the role. The petite actress has already started taking lessons in Tamil culture and language. While Alia’s preparing, Arjun doesn’t need to as he is a Punjabi munda.
The book 2 States: The Story of My Marriage takes a lot from Chetan Bhagat’s own love story. The film’s story -- a comical anecdote -- revolves around a college couple, who belong to two different states, and culture wise are poles apart. In order to get married, they not only have to break the shackles of cultural differences, but also convince their parents.
