After directing films like Wanted and Rowdy Rathore, choreographer Prabhu Deva has once again wielded the megaphone for the film Ramaiya Vastavaiya. Unlike Prabhu’s previous hits, Ramaiya Vastavaiya is a love drama with a good dosage of action, comedy and romance.
With this film, Prabhu Deva is launching newcomer Girish Taurani -- producer Kumar Taurani’s son. Girish is the main hero of the film and gets to romance the gorgeous Shruti Haasan, who will be seen in the role of a village belle. Ramaiya Vastavaiya is actually a Hindi remake of Prabhu’s debut Telugu film Nuvvostanante Nenoddantana (2005), which was a blockbuster.
The trailer of the film released with Race 2, has a distinct feel of the romantic dramas of late 80s and 90s, like Maine Pyaar Kiya, Anadi and Pyaar Kiya To Darna Kya. In this story too, the rich guy falls in love with a poor girl, and the setting of the film is countryside.
Girish Taurani manages to leave an impression with his good looks and body, but how he fares as an actor is not clear in this 50-sec trailer. The one who really induces a wisp of fresh breeze in the promo is Shruti Haasan. She looks simple, innocent, and yet is naughty, and talks through her eyes. The promo of the film also has a beautiful song, playing in the background, sung by Atif Aslam.
