Shahrukh Khan can move to Pakistan for safety: Hafiz Saeed

Hafiz Saeed, the Jamaat-ud-Dawa chief whom India deems responsible for the 26/11 terror attacks, has said that Bollywood superstar Shahrukh Khan can move to Pakistan if he doesn’t feel safe in India.

According to the Express Tribune, Hafiz Saeed has offered to help Shahrukh Khan with his stay in Pakistan and also given the assurance that the people in Pak will respect him.

Saeed’s comments come after a magazine interview in which Shahrukh spoke about being a Muslim in India. The superstar said in the interview: “I sometimes become the inadvertent object of political leaders who choose to make me a symbol of all that they think is wrong and unpatriotic about Muslims in India.”

He added: “There have been occasions when I have been accused of bearing allegiance to our neighbouring nation rather than my own country - this even though I am an Indian, whose father fought for the freedom of India. Rallies have been held where leaders have exhorted me to leave and return what they refer to my original homeland.”

Shahrukh Khan’s statement has even got a reaction from the Pakistani Interior Minister Rehman Malik who has asked the Indian government to provide security to SRK.

"He (Shahrukh) is a born Indian and he would like to remain Indian, but I will request the government of India (to) please provide him security. I would like to request all Indian brothers and sisters and all those who are talking in a negative way about Shah Rukh, they should know he is a movie star," Malik had said.

Malik’s statement has been met with sharp criticism from all the Indian political parties across the board.
