The controversy over Shahrukh Khan’s magazine article kicked off a war of words between India and Pakistan on Monday and Tuesday. But according to the actor’s close friend Karan Johar, SRK’s words were misrepresented.
“Ridiculous misinterpretation of @iamsrk's' words...an extremely well written piece being subjected to political agenda...a shame!!!!” Karan Johar tweeted in defense of Shahrukh Khan.
Shahrukh himself has come out and stated that his words have been twisted and given a new meaning. He makes it categorically clear that nowhere in the article is it written that he feels unsafe in India.
Even Priyanka Chopra, another good friend of Shahrukh, has come out in his support.
“I believe that people often use celebrities to advance their propagandas. Celebrities have become a soft target nowadays,” Priyanka Chopra said at a press conference on Tuesday.
A lot more support is coming from SRK from Bollywood. Celebs took to Twitter to express their surprise and amusement over the controversy.
Farah Khan wrote: Just read @iamsrk s article..it’s sensitively writtn, from the heart and true. Can’t understand why the controversy??”
Kunal Kohli tweeted: @iamsrk doesn't need to give explanations to bigots who drag him into controversy's to get mileage for themselves.
