|Despite the absence of the poster boy of Murder franchise, namely Emraan Hashmi, the new Vishesh Films’ presentation Murder 3 has opened decently well at box office.
The film, starring Randeep Hooda, Aditi Rao Hydari and Sara Loren, opened to a 30 percent to 40 percent occupancy on Friday morning, but more footfalls came in as the day progressed. The film’s opening day collection stands at Rs. 4.52 crore nett, which is the best yet for any Randeep Hooda solo starrer.
Released on 1350 screens, Murder 3 is the directorial debut of Vishesh Bhatt, son of producer Mukesh Bhatt. The film is expected to show a rise in collections over Saturday and Sunday. The Bhatts, meanwhile, have little to worry about as the film has already fetched them a substantial chunk of investments through satellite and music rights.
Going the audience reactions to Murder 3 on the first day (watch the video below) the movie is a good thriller but would have been better with Emraan Hashmi.
The other release of the weekend, Jayanta Bhai Ki Luv Story has opened to a dull response at theatres. The film saw only 10 percent seat bums on the first day and will have to show a huge turnaround on Saturday and Sunday to be able to make some mark.
Meanwhile, the last week’s release Special 26 has rounded off its first week with a very good collection of approximately Rs. 44 crore nett. The other release ABCD - Any Body Can Dance has also fared well with its first week collection of Rs. 32.2 crore nett.
Next Friday would see the release of Kai Po Che! and Zila Ghaziabad.
