Box office: 'Murder 3' fails to make a mark
'Murder 3' not as big as previous films of the franchise at the box office

Box office: 'Murder 3' fails to make a mark
The Murder franchise has taken a slight dent with the latest film Murder 3 faring below the mark at box office.

The film, starring Randeep Hooda, Sara Loren and Aditi Rao Hydari, opened to a strictly average response at the ticket windows with the first-day collection of Rs. 4.52 crore nett. Unexpectedly, the business dipped instead of rising on Saturday and the cash registers could only ring in Rs. 4.01 crore nett. A little sliver of hope shone on Sunday with the business showing a marginal rise to Rs. 4.78 crore.

Totting up the numbers gives us the first weekend collection of Murder 3 at Rs. 13.31 crore nett, which is not at par with the opening weekend performance of the franchise’s previous film Murder 2, starring the Vishesh Film’s poster boy Emraan Hashmi.

In fact, trade pundits feel that the idea of dropping Emraan from the third part wasn’t a smart one on the part of the Bhatts. However, the production house has little to worry because the cost of making the film was very meager. So, it would still be a profitable venture for the Bhatts.

The other release, Jayanta Bhai Ki Luv Story, failed to make any impression at ticket windows.

The coming week would see the release of two films, Kai Po Che! and Zila Ghaziabad. ApunKaChoice will update you about their opening on Saturday. Watch this space.
