Jolly L.L.B. a satire on Indian judicial system directed by Subhash Kapoor opened to a good start. More and more footfalls came in as the day progressed and the film showed an upward trend at centres in Mumbai, Delhi and Eastern Punjab. Its first-day collection is estimated to be between Rs. 3 crore and 3.15 crore nett. Given the good reports the film has got, it is likely to pick up, though not substantially, on Saturday and Sunday.
Neil Nitin Mukesh isn’t really a crowd puller but still one expected a better opening by his film 3G-2013 at ticket windows. The film has got mixed reviews from critics and going by the footfalls, the audience too isn’t enthused by it. Its first-day collection is way below the mark.
The third release of the week, Mere Dad Ki Maruti fared better than 3G and made approximately Rs. 1.10 crore to Rs. 1.25 crore on Friday.
A lull has pervaded the box office over the last few weeks. The last film to show a good run at theatres was Kai Po Che! which is doubtlessly a hit now. The last week’s release Saheb Biwi Aur Gangster Returns too has done well in its first week with a collection of Rs. 18.25 crore nett.
Next week would see the release of the Jaccky Bhagnani-starrer Rangrezz.
