|If recent reports are to be believed then it’s John Abraham, and not Akshay Kumar, who will play the lead in Welcome 2. The movie is in the pipeline for producer Firoz Nadiadwala, albeit without Akshay, who was the star of the first part.
It’s a known fact that producer Firoz Nadiadwala wanted to do the third part of Hera Pheri with Akshay Kumar, but the actor kept him waiting for almost four years, and eventually they parted ways. Now, as per reports, Akshay will also not feature in Firoz’s second installment of Welcome.
Earlier, when Hera Pheri 3 couldn’t work out with Akshay, Firoz had said that he wants to work with Akshay again very soon. But for Welcome 2, John Abraham is the first choice of Firoz Nadiadwala.
"It is difficult to envisage Welcome 2 (tentatively titled) without Akshay, but he is definitely not doing it," a source tells a daily. John Abraham, too, has confirmed the news that he is indeed on board for Welcome 2.
Director Anees Bazmee, who directed the 2007 blockbuster, will helm the second installment as well. Welcome 2 is expected to go on floors by the end of this year.
Will the second part retain the same dynamic ensemble star cast from Welcome featuring the likes of Nana Patekar, Anil Kapoor, Paresh Rawal and Katrina Kaif, because without these actors the movie will lose its charm.
