|Tattoo mania has gripped the tinsel town, and the latest star to join the gang of inked celebs is Ranbir Kapoor. The heartthrob was seen flaunting a tattoo at the launch of the first look of Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani. Was the tattoo fake or real?
The tattoo on the wrist of Ranbir’s right arm is easily readable. It clearly states ‘Awaara’, written in Devnagiri script. But, what lies behind the tattoo? Is this Ranbir’s way to pay tribute to his grandfather Raj Kapoor? Awaara is considered one of the most famous films of the legendary actor-filmmaker.
Some even claim that since Ranbir Kapoor is also a part of Bombay Talkies, a joint venture by four maverick directors to mark the centenary year of Indian cinema, it’s assumed that the tattoo could be for this film as Ranbir is supposed to do a special song in it.
However, according to other sources, the tattoo is erasable and a part of Ranbir’s character in Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani co-starring his ex-flame Deepika Padukone. “Yeh Jaawani Hai Deewani is still being shot. He came directly from the sets to the event and didn’t have time to take the tattoo off. It goes with his character,” the source is quoted as saying by a tabloid.
Also, it’s heard that due to date issues Ranbir isn’t doing the song in Bombay Talkies. So, the short film’s connection with the ‘Awaara’ tattoo can be ruled out.
Thus, can we expect Ranby flashing the tattoo in his forthcoming film?
