|Aatma and Rangrezz, the two main releases of last week, have failed to make any impact at the domestic box office.
The first weekend collection of the two films is anything but good. Aatma, starring Bipasha Basu and Nawazuddin Siddiqui, got mixed reviews from critics and just about managed a face-saving weekend collection. It started with Rs 1.52 crore nett on Friday, showed a little promise on Saturday with Rs 1.73 crore and didn’t go past Rs 1.89 crore on Sunday. Totting up the numbers gives us the film’s first weekend collection at Rs. 5.14 crore nett, which is clearly below the mark.
The fate of the other release Rangrezz, starring Jackky Bhagnani, was worse. With the collection of Rs 1.03 crore nett on Friday, Rs 1.17 crore on Saturday and Rs 1.55 crore on Sunday, the film managed a paltry Rs. 3.75 crore in the first weekend.
Meanwhile, Jolly L.L.B. which released on March 16, kept registering footfalls and made a good Rs. 5.25 crore in its second weekend, which is more than that made by any of the new releases. The film’s ten-day total now stands at approximately Rs. 24.77 crore nett. Very Good.
Mere Dad Ki Maruti is on the verge of scraping past Rs. 10 crore in its run so far.
The coming Friday would see the release of Sajid Khan’s Himmatwala, starring Ajay Devgn and Tamannaah. The film will most likely break the lull at the box office. ApunKaChoice will keep you posted.
