|Ek Thi Daayan may not have had the bumper opening to match the first day collections of Emraan Hashmi’s previous films like Raaz 3 or The Dirty Picture, the horror flick still managed a decent enough business on Friday.
Starring Emraan Hashmi, Huma Qureshi, Kalki Koechlin and Konkona Sen Sharma, the Kannan Iyer-directed film opened to an average response on Friday morning but pulled in more crowd in the evening shows. Expectedly, the response was better at multiplexes than at single screens.
As per estimates, the film has made Rs. 6.24 crore nett on its first day which though not great is not bad either. Also let’s not forget that the critics have given their thumbs up to the film and the audience reactions too are positive.
So the word of mouth is likely to bring in more footfalls on Saturday and Sunday. The film is expected to round off its first weekend in the range of Rs. 20 crore nett.
As for the previous week’s releases, Nautanki Saala! has done well with Rs. 19 crore nett in its first week. In fact, the film’s team has already celebrated its success. Commando, starring Vidyut Jamwal, trails behind with Rs. 17.50 crore nett in the first week.
The coming week would see the release of Aashiqui 2 starring Aditya Roy Kapur and Shraddha Kapoor.
