|Salman Khan has stepped up to take the initiative of helping the drought-hit in Maharashtra through his NGO Being Human.
Being Human will provide 2500 water tankers to the drought-hit areas of Marathawada to help the farmers cope with the severe water shortage. Each tanker that Salman Khan’s foundation will send has the capacity of 2000 litres.
From what we learn, the NGO would supply 750 water tankers to the Beed district, 500 each to Osmanabad and Jalna, and 250 each to Aurangabad and Nanded. These tankers will be provided from May 6 to May 31.
People in these districts have been facing acute water shortage for months now. We hear that Salman Khan personally got involved in helping the people in these areas and his Being Human team figured out that the main reason for water scarcity in this area is that the farmers don’t have any means or way of storing water. That’s how the idea of donating water tankers, each with capacity of 2000 litres, came about. These tanks not just store good quantity of water but also have a good life of about 10 years.
Just last week only, Salman Khan had stressed on the importance of doing charity work.
“Everybody does charity, but not everybody likes to talk about it. Some may do it for personal benefits, to stay in the limelight or others might do it genuinely. According to me, you may do charity for any reason, but do it anyways. No matter what the intention is,” Salman had told reporters at an event in Gurgaon.
The actor is presently busy shooting for his film Mental.
