While the new Hollywood release Fast And Furious 6 is all the rage at Indian box office, the new Bollywood releases are left scrounging for face-saving collections.
Ishkq In Paris, the much-delayed home production of Preity Zinta starring her opposite Rhehan Malliek, has fallen flat at the box office in its opening weekend with a depressing collection ranging between Rs. 1 crore to Rs. 1.25 crore net. There is not even a sliver of hope for the film to make a turnaround because it is the new Hollywood release Fast And Furious 6 that’s pulling in the footfalls.
Starring Vin Diesel, Paul Walker and Dwayne Johnson, the film released on 1200 screens in both English and dubbed versions in India. It raked in a whopping Rs. 21.55 crore net in the opening weekend. That’s even more than a lot of Bollywood films manage in the first weekend. The film had the advantage of the Thursday previews and hit the ground screeching on Friday with a collection of over Rs. 6 crore net. The collections only went up on Saturday and Sunday.
The attention now shifts to the coming big release of this week. Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani, starring the former lovers-turned-friends Ranbir Kapoor and Deepika Padukone is expected to take a good start at the box office.
