For quite some time director Vipul Shah has wanted to do the sequel of his superhit movie Namastey London, released in 2007. But due to various reasons, the movie never took off, until now when Akshay Kumar is happy collaborating with Vipul again.
Akshay has apparently signed the film and it is his gift to Vipul Shah on his birthday. Besides being professionals, the two are also good friends. Vipul Shah has confirmed the news, and is quoted as saying, “We had been planning the film from a long time. We had been waiting for the right script. A couple of days back I read the script to Akshay and he loved it. In fact, he said he would sign the film on my birthday. What started as a joke is now true.”
Till now the duo has done six films, including the hits like Aankhen (2002) and Singh Is Kinng (2008). The sequel of Namastey London will be their seventh project together.
There is no denying that Namastey London established Akshay Kumar and Katrina Kaif as one of the most sought after pairs in Bollywood at that time. The pair later sizzled in various films and gave hits like Welcome (2007) and Singh Is Kinng. However, the makers haven’t decided the actress opposite Akki for the sequel.
Currently, the actor is busy with his upcoming remake of South hit Thuppakki and will start working on Namastey London 2 once he wraps up the south remake.
Earlier, there were reports that Akshay Kumar wants the sequel of Singh Is Kinng to come out first, while Vipul Shah was keen to do Namastey London 2. Now, we have the winner!
