In the industry where equations change every Friday and stars make no bones about their fat pay cheques, Sonam Kapoor went with her instinct and charged nothing but Rs. 11 as shagun to be a part of Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra’s dream project.
Sonam has earlier worked with Rakeysh in Dilli 6, and is always proud of the film, claim sources. Though the movie was a damp squib at the box office, Sonam’s performance was much appreciated. She also came to be known as the ‘Massakali’ girl after the film. “When Mehra approached her for the Milkha Singh biopic, she refused to charge him anything. Instead the amount of Rs. 11 was like a shagun,” a source is quoted as saying.
Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra is also fond of Sonam. The director always wanted her for Bhaag Mikha Bhaag, and the actress even agreed for the film in spite of the fact that the movie revolves around Farhan Akhtar’s character.
However, according to Rakeysh, Sonam has an important role to play, and those who have seen the rushes of the film believe that Sonam and Farhan share an awesome chemistry.
