|Akshay Kumar will be the Bollywood star attraction at the India-Pakistan clash at Edgbaston, Birmingham, on June 15, Saturday. The star will watch the cricket match to promote his film Once Upon A Time In Mumbaai Dobara.
In the movie directed by Milan Luthria, Akshay plays a don named Shoaib who’s fond of cricket and wields such authority that the captains of India and Pakistan cricket teams don’t dare to call the toss until the don is in the stands.
Now, Akshay’s Shoaib will make his presence felt at Edgbaston. The star is said to be presently holidaying in New York, but he will fly to Birmingham to promote Once Upon A Time In Mumbaai Dobara (OUATIMD) that also features Sonakshi Sinha and Imran Khan.
Tanuj Garg, CEO-Balaji Motion Pictures, is quoted as saying, “As a company known for pushing the envelope on marketing, we will have our Shoaib attending the India-Pakistan match at Edgbaston. Cricket is a perfect fit with his character in the film, as seen in the first trailer.”
Akshay Kumar is himself said to be excited about the prospect of promoting the film at the India-Pak Champions Trophy match which is being described as a dead rubber, for India has already qualified for the semi-finals while Pak players are set to pack their bags. But then, no India-Pak encounter is ever a dead rubber.
The game will start at 09.30 GMT and we hope Akshay Kumar lands there on time. For the toss at Edgbaston won’t be held up for him.
