|The new Bollywood release Fukrey faced tough competition from the Hollywood actioner Man Of Steel at the box office during the weekend.
Fukrey, starring Pulkit Samrat, Manjot Singh, Varun Sharma and Ali Fazal, had a lukewarm start on Friday with a collection of Rs. 2.62 crore net. Saturday saw a marginal rise to Rs. 3.10 crore, Sunday was still better with Rs. 4.10 crore net. The first weekend collection comes out to be Rs. 9.82 crore approx., which is not a patch on the collections of Man Of Steel, starring Henry Cavill and Amy Adams.
Directed by Zack Snyder, the new Superman movie released at 800 screens in India, including its dubbed Hindi, Tamil and Telugu versions. The film’s first weekend collection at Indian box office is Rs. 21 crore, which is pretty good for any Hollywood movie, though not record breaking.
The movie buffs have taken a shine to the new Superman and the audience reactions have been good, with many claiming that the film is packed with breathtaking action sequences.
The other Bollywood release of the week, Ankur Arora Murder Case could just manage a little over Rs. 1 crore in its first weekend. Poor.
Meanwhile, Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani is still continuing strong at the box office, inching towards the Rs. 170 crore nett mark.
The coming Friday would see multiple releases: Raanjhanaa, Shortcut Romeo and Enemmy.
