Yes, the village girl making dung cakes in the photo above is indeed Mallika Sherawat.
The feisty Haryanawi girl is literally getting her hands dirty while shooting for director K.C. Bokadia’s film Dirty Politics, co-starring Om Puri. In the movie, Mallika plays a Rajasthani nurse named Anokhi Devi who gets involved with a politician.
One scene has her making dung cakes, a common source of fuel in rural India. Mallika herself shared the picture with her fans through Twitter.
The actress recently courted controversy with an interview at Cannes in which she said India is a “regressive” country.
She also spoke about her role in Dirty Politics.
“The film (Dirty Politics) began six months ago and it's a biopic. It’s a story of a woman who is a nurse, she gets involved with a politician and gets murdered in the end. It shows how the government reacts to it,” Mallika Sherawat said.
At the start of the shooting of the film, Mallika reportedly even received threat calls, because the film is allegedly based on the Bhanwari Devi murder case.
Director K.C. Bokadia is wary of his film becoming a victim of politics and says Dirty Politics is not about Bhanwari Devi.
