|The bold actress Nandana Sen recently got married to the publishing tycoon John Makinson. The hush-hush wedding took place in the US last month.
Nandana Sen’s marriage to John Makinson, Penguin Chairman and CEO, was a private affair. It’s learnt that the actress got to meet him in November 2012. A month later they were dating and soon decided to tie the knot. The couple got married on June 22 in Shelter Island, reveals Nandana to a daily.
The marriage was attended by a few close friends and family members, and post marriage, Nandana will get settled in New York. The actress’ good friend and her former beau, Madhu Mantena, knew about the wedlock, and was invited too, but couldn’t take out time to be at the wedding because of the promotions of his movie Lootera. He is, nonetheless, happy for Nandana, with whom he broke up last year.
Nandana Sen and Madhu Mantena dated each other for almost nine years before breaking up in May 2012. The 45-year-old actress then told a daily that Madhu and she were planning to move to New York together, but due to Madhu’s work in Mumbai, it didn’t make sense for him to move abroad. Since neither of the two believed in the “long-term feasibility of an inter-continental relationship”, they decided to go separate ways.
Daughter of Nobel winning Economist Amartya Sen and writer Nabaneeta Dev Sen, Nandana never made it to the mainstream cinema, but did various offbeat movies, including the controversial Rang Rasiya, which is yet to see the light of the day. Her last commercial film was Prince (2010), starring Vivek Oberoi.
