|Bollywood superstar Salman Khan and his brother Sohail Khan are said to be thinking of naming their upcoming film as Jai Ho. The film’s tentative title is Mental.
We’ve reported earlier that Salman Khan isn’t very happy with the title Mental, particularly because it’s quirky and lends itself to various meanings, including a derogatory one. And since the film is believed to have a patriotic angle, the title Jai Ho suits.
The film is said to be the remake of Telugu superstar Chiranjeevi's 2006 movie Stalin which was about an Indian Army Major who initiates a novel way of spreading goodness in the world. He doesn’t accept thanks from the people he helps, but tells them to help three more people. The condition is that those who are further helped will help more and more ahead to form a chain.
Since the Salman Khan-Sohail Khan film is slated for a release on January 24, 2014, two days ahead of the Republic Day, the Mental creative team thinks it’s better to have a patriotic title, and Jai Ho tops their wishlist.
Jai Ho indeed has a catchy vibe to it and is also the title of an A.R. Rahman composition for Slumdog Millionaire that also won an Oscar.
Mental is currently in production stages and the film’s shooting is underway in Hyderabad. It stars Sana Khan, Daisy Shah, Tabu and Bruna Abdullah, among others.
