Bollywood actor Anil Kapoor hopes his good friend Salman Khan won’t have to serve a harsh jail term, like Sanjay Dutt who’s presently doing time in Yerawada Jail in Pune.
On Wednesday, Salman Khan was charged with culpable homicide not amounting to murder by a Mumbai Sessions court in the 2002 hit-and-run case. The superstar could face a jail term of 10 years if convicted.
When Anil Kapoor was asked to react on the development, the actor said at an event, “It is a court matter so it is not fair to speculate on things. But I hope nothing like (10 years in jail) happens. My heart says nothing will happen.”
Anil Kapoor and Salman Khan are good friends and have worked together in films like No Entry and Biwi No. 1. Kapoor also made a special appearance in Wanted, which was produced by big brother Boney Kapoor and marked a turning point in Salman’s career.
Meanwhile, diverse reactions are pouring in from fans and detractors on Twitter after framing of charges against Salman Khan under the harsh IPC section of culpable homicide not amounting to murder. While some have welcomed the move, others think Salman is being made an example of because he is a celebrity. What’s your take?
