The sequel of the 2010 movie Once Upon A Time In Mumbaai has been panned by the critics and the word of mouth by fans isn’t encouraging either, though the viewers seem to have liked Akshay Kumar’s performance in the Milan Luthria movie. OUATIMD had a limited release on Thursday and expanded to more screens Friday onward.
However, the response it saw at the box office could be termed strictly average. The film has minted Rs. 40 crore net approximately in its four-day opening weekend. Compare that to Chennai Express that crossed Rs. 100 crore in as many days.
The Shahrukh Khan-Deepika Padukone starrer continued its winning march into the Independence Day weekend as well and no doubt dented the collection of OUATIMD. At the same time it witnessed a decline in the screens and therefore a dip in the collections from Friday of its second weekend. But the Sunday collection of over Rs. 10 crore was very good.
So far, Chennai Express has raked in a whopping Rs. 181 crore at the box office. Expect more records to break in the coming days.
