After a year of drought at the box office, Salman Khan will rule 2014 with as many as three releases in a year.
2013 is the year the fans of Salman Khan wouldn’t mind forgetting. With no movie release and a slew of controversies and legal hassles to contend with, Salman has seen his professional adversaries like Shahrukh Khan and Ranbir Kapoor stealing a march.
While Shahrukh clinched the Eid slot this year and consequently smashed all previous box office records with his runaway rage Chennai Express, Ranbir too has challenged Salman’s supremacy with the super duper success of Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani. The film became the third highest grosser of all times, even above Dabangg, Dabangg 2 and Bodyguard.
But 2014 would be a different story. The year will begin with the release of Mental aka Jai Ho during the Republic Day weekend.
Producer-director Sohail Khan is very upbeat about the way the film has shaped up and he’s reported to have said that Mental has the power to go beyond even Shahrukh’s Chennai Express at the box office.
While that remains to be seen, Salman Khan has already booked the next Eid slot for his movie Kick. Though there has been a minor delay in the film’s shooting with all the visa hassles the 47-year-old star has had to face, producer-director Sajid Nadiadwala is sure of meeting the deadline and providing a good movie for the fans to enjoy on Eid 2014.
And if that’s not enough to break the bank, Salman Khan might have a third movie release by the end of 2014. It would in all likelihood be a film directed by Prabhu Deva, the man who gave Salman the blockbuster Wanted that turned the superstar’s career around.
So for Salman Khan fans, 2014 is going to be a rocking year.
