|It seems there is a serious title crisis for Salman Khan’s film Mental, directed by Sohail Khan. The movie’s name has apparently been changed to Azaad, but the new title is yet to be confirmed.
Earlier, there were reports that the brother duo is not so happy with the title Mental, particularly because it’s quirky and lends itself to various meanings, including a derogatory one, claim sources. There were even talks of calling the film Jai Ho as the film is believed to have a patriotic angle. The title Jai Ho was apparently even approved by Sallu’s family.
Tribute: 25 glorious years of Salman Khan!
However, now it’s heard that Salman Khan and Sohail Khan might rechristen their film as Azaad. The movie is slated for a release on January 24, 2014, two days ahead of the Republic Day, and the movie’s team thinks it’s better to have a patriotic title.
While the title Jai Ho has a catchy vibe to it inspired from the famous track of Slumdog Millionaire created by A.R. Rahman, Azaad suits Salman Khan’s ‘Dabangg’ persona. Also, the actor prefers one-word title for most of his films.
Mental is currently in post-production stage and it stars newbies Sana Khan, Daisy Shah, along with Tabu and Bruna Abdullah and others.
The movie is a remake of Telugu superstar Chiranjeevi’s 2006 movie Stalin. The story of the film is about an Indian Army Major who initiates a novel way of spreading goodness in the world. He doesn’t accept thanks from the people he helps, but tells them to help three more people. The condition is that those who are further helped will help more and more ahead to form a chain.
