Abhishek Kapoor’s Fitoor, loosely based on Charles Dickens’ The Great Expectations, now will have Aditya Roy Kapoor. Sushant Singh Rajput has confirmed that he will not be able to star in Fitoor as the movie’s dates have been pushed from October 2013 to next year, and it happens to clash with the dates of his other projects -- Shekhar Kapur’s Paani and YRF’s Detective Byomkesh Bakshi.
However, as per insiders, there is another story too. It’s learnt that the makers weren’t keen to have Sushant in the film and thus kept postponing the dates. The actor was then told that his dates are required for July 2014. But since Sushant had already allotted July dates to Paani, he was in a fix. Left with no option, he bowed out.
Reportedly, when Sushant was signed for Fitoor, it was being produced by Balaji and was supposed to go on the floors this month. Then the film went into the hands of UTV, and the scenario changed. As soon as Sushant made it clear that he isn’t doing the film, Aditya Roy Kapoor stepped into his shoes.
An official announcement is expected soon! Now, the makers will also have to see whether Katrina Kaif is available for the film after this minor setback and the change in the lead actor.
