|Akshay Kumar’s latest release Boss has been showing a downward slide at the box office since its release on Wednesday. Will Saturday mark a turnaround in the film’s fortune?
The film hit theatres on Eid holiday and minted a decent Rs. 14 crore net approximately. The collection was expected to go down on Thursday (working day) and it did fall by nearly 42 percent to Rs. 8 crore net.
The downturn continued on the third day as well. On Friday, the film managed just Rs. 6 crore net, witnessing another 25 percent fall in it collection. The first three-day figure, as a result, stands at Rs. 28 crore net.
Directed by Anthony D’Souza, Boss has got mixed reviews from the critics, with some hailing it as a full-on masala entertainer, and others panning it for its wafer thin story and over the top action.

What remains to be seen is whether the film’s collection will show a turnaround on Saturday. Business in double-digit crores is expected. If it does, Boss would be par for the course to reach the 45 - 50 crore mark in its extended weekend.
The film, also starring Shiv Pandit and Aditi Rao Hydari released on 3000 screens and is doing better on single screens than multiplexes. It’s doing well particularly in UP.
The other release of the week, Shahid, opened to rave reviews but poor footfalls.
