The makers of the 1992-hit Khuda Gawah are planning a sequel and are in talks with Amitabh Bachchan to reprise his role from the original. What’s more, they are even aiming to cast Sridevi opposite Big B for the film.
If the makers of the sequel get the two stars on board it would be no less a casting coup of sorts. Also, the original had an ensemble star cast including the South star Nagarjuna, and for the sequel too, the makers are trying to get an envious cast.
Producer Manoj Desai confirms the sequel and says that till now they have only briefed Amitabh Bachchan, and as soon as the script is ready, they will meet him again and narrate the role.
The producer further adds, “Once Mr. Bachchan gives his nod for the sequel we may go and talk to Sridevi as well about the film.”
The original had Sridevi in a double role as she played the ladylove of the Afghan lord (Amitabh Bachchan) and also her daughter. Sri was terrific in both the roles, and thus the makers want to cast her in the sequel as well. Other than Amitabh and Sridevi, young actors are also likely to join the cast as the movie will be made keeping in mind the contemporary times.
Shot extensively in India and Afghanistan, Khuda Gawah was not only one of the biggest grossers of 1992, but also one of the most expensive films of that time.
Even though Sridevi and Amitabh Bachchan did several films together in the late 80s and early 90s, Khuda Gawah was their most successful film.
