Records are made to be broken. The milestone that Shahrukh Khan’s Chennai Express had reached earlier this year at the box office has now been crossed by Hrithik Roshan’s Krrish 3.
'Krrish 3' is now the highest Bollywood grosser of all time. Just take a look at how the bar has been raised this year.
Aamir Khan’s 3 Idiots, released in 2009, enjoyed the undisputed top position as the all-time highest grosser for three years with a collection of Rs. 202 crore net from domestic market. Earlier this year, the record was broken by Shahrukh Khan’s 'Chennai Express' that overtook '3 Idiots' by a great margin to become the highest grosser at Rs. 227 crore net.
Now, within a matter of months, that record too has been smashed. Hrithik Roshan’s 'Krrish 3', which released on November 1, has beaten 'Chennai Express' with a collection of Rs. 231 crore net, till Saturday (Nov 16) and still counting. Trade pundits believe that the film can add another Rs. 10 crore to its kitty before snuffing it at the box office.
To just make a few comparisons, both 'Krrish 3' and 'Chennai Express' hold the record of the fastest 100 crore (in just four days). 'Krrish 3' holds the record of the highest single-day collection of Rs. 35.91 crore (recorded on November 4, 2013).
'Krrish 3' is Hrithik Roshan’s second film to cross the 100 crore mark after Agneepath.
