Directed by Nupur Asthana and written by Habib Faisal, the film is said to be a frothy comedy set in the times of recession. The first look of the movie shows an ecstatic Sonam Kapoor trying to contain her excitement as Ayushmann Khuranna, playing her boyfriend, slips a ring on her finger. Is he ecstatic too? Nah, rather wary and casting a sidelong glance at a glowering Rishi Kapoor.
In the movie, Sonam Kapoor plays Mayera Sehgal, and Ayushmann essays the role of Delhi-boy Mohit Chaddha. Both Mayera and Mohit love each other and think that love will help them survive the recession. Mayera’s father V.K. Sehgal (Rishi Kapoor) is against the couple and their idealistic view. Who gets the last laugh in this slice-of life, Delhi-comedy when recession strikes and the lack of money tests love?
The first trailer of the film will be released in the coming days, most likely around the release of the YRF film Gunday, starring Sonam’s cousin brother Arjun Kapoor in one of the lead roles.
Bewakoofiyaan has been shot mostly in Delhi and Gurgaon. Both Sonam Kapoor and Ayushmann Khurrana bonded well during the shoot.
Ayushmann said, “It's been a great experience working with her (Sonam). People get disillusioned by the fashionista that they see at media events. But in reality she is a very simple girl. She has seen the journey in her career right from being an AD (assistant director) to now as one of the biggest stars.”
Bewakoofiyaan is set to release on March 14. Here’s the first look. Do you like the duo’s pair?
