After producing a gritty war film like Madras Cafe, the producer John Abraham has apparently greenlit another project based on a real-life incident. The actor will play the lead in this one, too.
As per reports, John Abraham will soon be acting in and producing a film based on the infamous Nanavati murder case that shook the nation way back in 1959. The script of the film is ready, and it has been written by Vipul K Rawal, famous for Nagesh Kukunoor’s film Iqbal.
John Abraham is reportedly quite kicked about the movie’s story and wants to play the lead role of the naval officer KM Nanavati.
It is also being said that the actor was earlier approached by another producer with a similar subject but that project didn’t take off as the actor wasn't happy with the money being offered. “But John was impressed with the script and has now bought the rights to the film as he wants to produce it himself,” a source is quoted as saying.
It’s learnt that Vipul K Rawal, who comes from the navy background, has extensively researched the subject and has written a good script. Other filmmakers reportedly working on similar projects include Soni Razdan and Anurag Kashyap, but there is no official confirmation yet.
The infamous Nanavati murder case saw the naval commander KM Nanavati getting tried for the murder of Prem Ahuja, his wife's lover. The case inspired a lot of filmmakers back in the 60s as well.
The movie is going to be high on emotional content. Currently, John Abraham is busy with Welcome Back, and is even contemplating on producing other films.
