|A song that a billion voices share. Here’s the anthem of the second season of Aamir Khan’s TV show 'Satyamev Jayate'.
The divide between the rich and the poor, the dark and the fair, those high-up and those down-below blurs in this uni verse of the anthem of Aamir’s much awaited show. The lyrics by Prasoon Joshi we all know by heart now. But it’s the many voices that make this anthem a moving watch.
This track is by music composer and singer Ram Sampat, but the vocals are overlapped by the voices of people from all walks of life: shopkeepers, businessmen, labourers, housewives, kids, servicemen, fishermen, vegetable venders, boatmen, miners, teachers, students, weavers, folk dancers, woodcutters, pundits, news-presenters, musicians, nuns, and even Mumbai’s dabbawallas.
You name it, everyone has a place in this song of India.

Aamir Khan himself has a few fleeting shots in the video and mouths only two lines, “saccha hai pyaar mera” (my love is true), and “badloonga main tere liye,” (I’ll change myself for you).
The first edition of 'Satyamev Jayate' was aired in 2012 and was quite a conscience rattler as Aamir pulled out a slew of social issues like female feticide, dowry, domestic violence, caste discrimination, and many others from under the carpet and discussed them at length.
The second edition is highly awaited. It will go on air on March 2, coming Sunday on Star World 11 am.
