DDLJ is considered the most iconic romantic film from the Yash Raj Films’ banner and now its director Aditya Chopra is said to be thinking of a remake.
According to reports, the filmmaker is planning to adapt the story to a contemporary setting and rope in new actors to play the lead roles of Raj and Simran, the two lovers who fall in love while on a train journey but face opposition from the girl’s father.
The remake is said to be tentatively titled “Dulhaniya Chali Dilwale Ke Saath’.
Buzz is Aditya Chopra will himself direct and is planning to sign in the TV actor Farhan Khan to play the character of Raj. A new girl Mahika Sharma is said to be under consideration to play Simran.
Shahrukh Khan and Kajol will make cameo appearances in the film. It remains to be seen if they will appear together or separately.
Though the Yash Raj Films spokesperson has denied the news that Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge is being remade by the production house, rumours say Boman Irani and Paresh Rawal are being considered to play the roles enacted by Anupam Kher and Amrish Puri respectively in the original.
Shahrukh Khan and Kajol were last seen together in My Name Is Khan. The movie was a hit.
