It’s no news how Karan Johar's magnum opus Shuddhi was about to get shelved after the original casting of Hrithik Roshan and Kareena Kapoor fell apart when Hrithik opted out in February.
But for producer Karan Johar and director Karan Malhotra the movie is very much a big dream which they soon want to turn into a reality. “I cannot let a vision like Shuddhi stagnate any further,” Karan has said in a statement.
While Deepika Padukone has apparently bagged the plum project, it’s being said that the final round of talks are going on with Ranveer Singh before he signs on the dotted line.
Last week, Ranveer had a long meeting with both the Karans, and he has apparently given his consent to play the male lead, claim sources. Currently, Ranveer is shooting for a Shaad Ali film in Delhi, and as soon as he returns back, things will get finalized.
Another director who is signing the hit Ram-Leela pair is Sanjay Leela Bhansali. The buzz is also strong that Ranveer-Deeps may play star-crossed lovers in Bajirao Mastani.
All of a sudden, Ranveer’s date-diary seems full. He is set to start Zoya Akhtar’s Dil Dhadakne Do. Then in all probability he would move to either Shuddhi or Bajirao Mastani. Juggling both the projects will not be a herculean task for Ranveer. Why? "That won't be a problem as Bhansali's film will not take off before March 2015," a source is quoted as saying.
Shuddhi is based on the theme of reincarnation and will be made on a big scale.
