Actor and host Manish Paul has reportedly quit the TV show ‘Mad In India’ over creative differences, leaving the show’s main attraction Sunil Grover aka Chutki in the lurch.
Rumours had been rife since the beginning of March that Manish Paul was thinking of leaving the show even though the host had denied that being the case. But now, he’s finally stepped out, if reports are to be believed.
Manish Paul had a 26-episode contract with the channel but he wasn’t happy with the scripts.
'Mad In India' went on air with much expectations as it marked the comeback to the comedy scene of Sunil Grover who had quit ‘Comedy Nights With Kapil’ over pay issues. Since Sunil’s character Gutthi was much missed on Kapil Sharma’s show, one expected ‘Mad In India’ to take a flying start on TV.
Alas, the show failed to live up to the mammoth expectations. Low TRPs prompted the channel to increase Chutki’s footage in the show, but the response from audience has been tepid.
Manish Paul’s exit will further dent the ratings, though the makers are looking for a replacement.
Word is that Manish Paul now wants to focus on his acting career in films. After a number of special appearances, he made his Bollywood debut as a leading man last year with Mickey Virus and has now signed a new film.
Manish’s last episode of ‘Mad In India’ will reportedly be aired on March 31.
