Lending her support to the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender community, actress Huma Qureshi has recited a moving poem for an LGBT short film ‘Ishq Ki Ijaazat’.
The film is a poetic campaign to urge people to bring love out in the open. It is not about sexual preferences. It is about a basic right that every human being deserves -- to be able to love with dignity, and not prejudice.
In the movie, Huma Qureshi recites the poem by Satyanshu and Devanshu Singh.
Huma said in a statement, “I believe everyone should have the freedom to choose for themselves.”
“The initiative is not an angry statement against Article 377 that criminalises homosexuality,” the statement added.
In ‘Ishq Ki Ijaazat’, we see lesbian and gay couples wanting to live their life lovingly, peacefully. The movie provides a peek into the lives of these people, including transgenders, who are often looked down in society.
Incidentally, Huma Qureshi had played a character with lesbian shades in her last movie Dedh Ishqiya. She was paired with Madhuri Dixit in the film.
