Shahid Kapoor and Hrithik Roshan are heading for an unlikely clash at the box office this October. Shahid’s Haider and Hrithik’s Bang Bang are slated to release on the same day, that’s on national holiday of Gandhi Jayanti.
As per trade sources, Haider isn’t to be blamed for this clash. The release date of the film starring Shahid Kapoor in the titular role was finalized a year back, and it is the Hrithik Roshan, Katrina Kaif-starrer Bang Bang that has been getting delayed. Now, its makers have decided to release the movie on October 2.
“I don't think trade will get affected, because people who will watch Haider will not be able to stand Bang Bang and vice versa…” a trade analyst is quoted as saying.
Though generically different, the two films boast of high-voltage drama and action. Even though Haider is more dramatic and intense and Bang Bang more sleek and action-based -- both films have good production values. The two movies are backed by power houses. UTV (Haider) and Fox Star Studios (Bang Bang) will make sure that their film gets enough number of screens to release on. So it is to be seen which one wins big at the BO.
What’s going to work for Haider? The smashing combo of Vishal Bhardwaj and Shahid Kapoor after Kaminey. An ensemble star cast including the likes of Irrfan Khan, Tabu and Shraddha Kapoor. The movie has Kashmir as its setting, and an intriguing plotline.
What will work in Bang Bang favour? The hot pairing of Hrithik Roshan and Katrina Kaif. The exotic locations and high-octane action sequences as the movie is the official remake of the Hollywood flick Knight And Day.
