Salman Khan’s latest release Kick has become the highest opening film of the year 2014 with more than Rs. 26 crore in its Friday kitty.
As ApunKaChoice predicted yesterday, the film by Sajid Nadiadwala has touched one small milestone on its opening day. It minted over Rs. 26 crore at the domestic box office, making it the highest opener for the year 2014. Looking at the broader picture, Kick is the fourth highest opening film of all time. It is the second highest opening for any Salman Khan film to date after Ek Tha Tiger (Rs. 32.93 crore opening day).
Kick is doing exceptionally well overseas also. In fact, in some countries it’s doing even better than Ek Tha Tiger did.
The audience response to the film has been very positive. If the trend continues, Kick may round up its opening weekend in the range of Rs. 75 crore to Rs. 82 crore net at India box office. The film is expected to enter the 100 crore club on Eid.
As far as breaking records goes, the film hasn’t managed to break the opening day records of Dhoom 3 (Rs. 36.22 cr), Chennai Express (Rs. 33.12 cr) and Krrish 3 (Rs. 32.93 cr). Looks like Salman Khan still has a way to go before he can beat Aamir Khan, Shahrukh Khan and Hrithik Roshan at the box office.
