Superstar Salman Khan shows his box office power again with Kick. The movie is growing from strength to strength at the ticket windows.
After becoming the highest opening film of the year 2014 with the Friday collection of Rs. 26.50 crore, Kick, directed by Sajid Nadiadwala, has now rounded off an excellent weekend, despite releasing in the month of Ramadan, days before Eid.
Here’s the breakup of the film’s weekend business:
Friday: 26.50 crore
Saturday: 27.15 crore
Sunday: 30.18 crore
Weekend total: Rs. 83.83 crore net at Indian box office
This is an excellent figure for a non-holiday opener. But more good news awaits Kick in the form of the Eid holiday on Tuesday. Expect the theatres to run housefull at many centres and the collections to go through the roof on Eid.
Now, the question remains: Will Kick emerge as the highest Salman Khan grossing film ever? Believe it or not, Salman has yet to make his entry in the 200 crore club. The likes of Hrithik Roshan (Krrish 3), Shahrukh Khan (Chennai Express) and Aamir Khan (Dhoom 3) are already there. But Salman has so far lagged behind at Rs. 198.78 crore made by Ek Tha Tiger, his highest yet.
Will Kick mark Salman Khan’s entry into the 200 crore club? Watch this space.
