Since English Vinglish, Sridevi has been waiting for the right project to come her way! Now, we hear the actress will soon return to silver screen with what could be another terrific performance.
If in English Vinglish she played a housewife good at making ladoos, her next film will see her playing a stepmother. It’s learnt to be a mother-daughter story -- a stepmother-stepdaughter story, in fact. Sridevi will start shooting for the film in January 2015.
Sri’s husband Boney Kapoor is super excited for the project. He too wanted an awesome script for Sridevi post English Vinglish. “I’ve been on the look-out for a subject for Sri for a very long time. Nothing seemed to be right. She has played everything that she could possibly play. I had to find something unusual for her. I think I’ve found the right subject,” Boney is quoted as saying.
The movie is going to be a story of a stormy relationship between a woman and her 18-year old stepdaughter. A new girl will be cast as Sri’s daughter. Earlier, actresses like Shabana Azmi (in ‘Masoom’) and later Kareena Kapoor (in ‘We Are Family’) have won accolades playing a stepmom.
Sri is also doing a Tamil film to be directed by Chimbu Devan. The movie will also feature Tamil superstar Vijay and Kannada star Sudeep.
Meanwhile, the English Vinglish director Gauri Shinde is again planning to team up with Sridevi. Gauri has confirmed that the movie is going to be a social comedy, but not a sequel to English Vinglish.
