Ajay Devgn shines at the box office again with his latest release Singham Returns which is trotting towards the 100 crore club.
The film by director Rohit Shetty is most likely to enter the 100 crore club on Tuesday, its fifth day after release. The film raked in a whopping Rs. 77.69 crore in its opening weekend, making it the best opening film ever for Ajay Devgn. Singham Returns has minted the second highest opening weekend collection for the year 2014. The only film ahead of it this year is Salman Khan’s Kick.
Monday is crucial for any film. The weekend usually brings in footfalls due to publicity or the star power, but Monday business is a good indicator of how a film would fare in the long run.
Singham Returns passed this Monday test with flying colours by raking in Rs. 14.78 crore net at the Indian box office. Let’s also not forget that Monday was a gazetted holiday in many states on the account of Janmashtmi.
Toting up the numbers gives us the first four-day collection of Singham Returns at Rs. 92.47 crore net. Which means that as you read this, the film is probably crossing the 100 crore milestone already on its fifth day.
By the way, Salman Khan’s Kick also entered the 100 crore club on its fifth day. The 2011 release Singham, in comparison, made it to the club in 50 days.
